Cait Colacchio is an undergraduate in studio art at the University of Vermont. She graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall in 2008 with the Kaufman Prize for excellence in photographic art. Whether its an indulgent friend or the towering dunes of the Sahara, Cait has been actively photographing whatever and whomever she could find since she first learned how to work a darkroom. Today, Cait shoots primarily in digital, although she still has a soft spot for black and white chemical processing. With her love of culture and travel, she has photographed throughout Morocco and the northern coast of Spain. At home, she can often be found shooting outside or working indoors with her light box.Mountains dont laugh, she says in response to her love of portraiture. People, animals: theyre surprising. You always have to keep a finger on the shutter. Cait combines her technical experience with an easy-going attitude to capture her subjects at their best. If a good shot means getting down to snout-level, then you can bet thats where youll find Cait. She strives to make the photographic process as natural and enjoyable as possible for all those involved.
